Expo 86

Reviving an icon

Expo 86 was a landmark event for Vancouver, embedding a legacy that included the first Skytrain and the geodesic dome that Science World calls home today. To connect to that origin and help generate revenue for Science World as a charity, I led the launch of an exclusively designed collection of Expo 86 merchandise for sale in the Science Store and online.

The collection saw the iconic logo and Expo Ernie character brought to life in a nostalgic line of tees, sweatshirts, tote bags, mugs, pins and more.

The Brand team collaborated on the merchandise line, generating an appealing line of products that paid homage, while bringing a fresh new twist.

The line launched to huge success, garnering media coverage and interviews, and selling out nearly all items within the first week. Since the original launch, the team has iterated on capsule collections to extend the range and bring in new products such as fany packs, bucket hats, and more.
