Empowering the future of STEAM

A sell-out event every year, Girls and STEAM aims to encourage young girls* to explore potential careers in STEAM – science, technology, engineering, art and design, math – at an age when they start to struggle to see themselves reflected. Engaging local women in STEAM fields as mentors, presenters, and workshop leads, this collaborative one-day event inspires young people to get excited about a future STEAM career – from video game design, to geoengineering.

The refreshed brand aimed to meet girls where they were at; with a bold colour palette that aligned to the main Science World brand but brought a slightly 90's feel to it and typography that was energetic and unexpected. The brand communicated the underlying concept of 'celebrating your own uniqueness' and encouraging the girls to seek their own path.

Colourful icons, gradient backgrounds and subtle textures brought together the fresh-feeling system and allowed flexibility while maintaining consistency.

*While the terms “women” and “girls” are used for this program, it is open to all who identify as women, girls, trans, genderqueer, non-binary, Two-Spirit, and gender questioning.
